History
Acumen Healthcare Solutions (AHS) is a medical software development company formed in 1997 with a mission to streamline and improve the process of data collection and transmission for clinical trials and medical device registries. AHS is devoted to developing and providing the medical community with secure, accurate, and cost-efficient systems, and has been involved in clinical trials across the spectrum of care – ranging from cardiac and Orthopaedic medical devices to HIV drugs, laboratory equipment, and dental implants.
Challenge
As a provider of many contract research organization services, AHS needed a flexible, cloud-based electronic data capture (EDC) development platform that would allow for their own customization based on customer requirements. Additionally, any potential EDC solution would need to adapt to typical study workflows and – above all else – be cost effective. While the systems AHS utilized at the time worked well enough for their basic needs, they were not adequately supported and were quite expensive.
Resolution
Top-level management at both AHS and Crucial Data Solutions worked together to identify how TrialKit would be able to address these needs, and ultimately TrialKit was selected from amongst the competition as a leader in clinical research EDC platforms with a pricing structure well-suited for broad range of users – from small CRO startups to multi-national corporations. AHS has also realized a benefit from the built-in reporting capabilities of the TrialKit system that puts real-time subject data at the client’s fingertips. As of today, AHS has run over 400 studies using TrialKit.
